We live in a fast world. There are fast highways and the Information Superhighway. There’s fast food and instant drinks. There are fast cars, fast computers, fast deliveries, and fast news reports. And after you’ve broken up with your boyfriend, you might be interested in winning him back quickly. If that’s your goal, then here are some tips for a fast make-up:
1. Focus on the future.
This isn’t to say that you should forget the past. Revisit it. Analyze it. Learn from it. But if your goal is to reunite with your boyfriend, you should avoid dwelling on the past. Instead, keep your eye on the prize. Focus all of your attention and energies on getting back with your boyfriend. Living in the past can prevent you from making that happen.
2. Keep the lines of communication open (after closing them).
If you want to get back together with your boyfriend, you should break off all communication for up to two weeks after the relationship has ended. However, afterwards, it’s crucial to keep the lines of communication open. This doesn’t mean that you have to write a letter that rivals the length of “War and Peace.” However, in today’s world we use so many means of communication. From e-mail to instant messaging, and from cell phones to oldie-but-goodie landline phones, let your ex-boyfriend know that you’re willing to talk things out-whenever he’s ready.
3. Don’t play the blame game.
Both of you and your ex will lose at the game of love, if either of you plays the blame game. Sure, you might be upset about the breakup, and some resentment could exist. But playing the blame game will simply make matters worse. It’s human nature for us to constantly believe that we’re right. In fact, this tendency is so strong that we often say that we’re right-when we know that we’re wrong! So instead of pointing your finger at your ex, remember that it takes two to tango. Is it possible that you could have contributed somewhat to the breakup?
4. Don’t discuss your feelings with mutual funds.
Loose lips sink ships, so avoid this action like the plague. And definitely don’t discuss your feelings on a blog! Instead, record your feelings about the relationship, by maintaining a pen-and-paper journal. This will allow you to diffuse your emotions, without allowing everyone to learn about them!
5. Avoid moping around at home.
It’s highly likely that your boyfriend to learn (either directly or through the grapevine) if you’ve had no social life after the breakup. If he perceives that the breakup has devastated you, then he’ll have the upper hand in the make-up process. Instead, go out with friends, and even go to the places where you and your ex used to hang out. This will give your ex the impression that you’re ready to move on with your life (even if you’re not).
